Techtextil - The Innovation Interchange

Texas Tech receives patent for decontamination wipe process

Lubbock, TX - The process used to create nonwoven toxic chemical decontamination wipes, such as Texas Tech University’s Fibertect, recently received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

“Receiving the patent means the University has secured the intellectual property protection for the decontamination wipe’s technology”, said David Miller, Vice Chancellor of Texas Tech University System’s Office of Technology Commercialization.

Recycled polyester tyre cords launched in Europe

Osaka - Teijin Fibers Limited announced today that its chemically recycled polyester Eco Circle Fibers are now being used in the cords of Toyo Tire & Rubber’s Proxes Ne tyres, which Toyo Tire Europe GmbH introduced to the European market beginning in April 2009. Eco Circle Fibers are marketed under the brand name ECOPET PLUS(r) in Japan

Milan - Italian customs agents have seized more than 26,000 pieces of counterfeit ladies’ swimwear bearing the Lycra fibre trademark. The shipment, originating from China and destined for Rome, was on a truck arriving from U.K.

Nilit acquires Nylstar


Migdal Ha’emek, Israel – Nylon 6.6 producer Nilit has announced that it has acquired Nylstar’s U.S. operations including its nylon 6.6 plant in Martinsville, VA.

Last year Nilit opened a new state-of-the-art facility in China and the addition of this US plant will become a part of its global production facility network, demonstrating its confidence and investment in the nylon apparel industry throughout the world. With the Nylstar acquisition, Nilit now becomes one of the world’s largest nylon 6.6 producers for the apparel industry.
